Amber Richane

Environmental stewardship is central to Amber’s life, from the electric car she drives to her ongoing conservation projects at her 80 year-old church in Downtown Los Angeles. This passion for protecting our Earth drives her career, where she sees successful business and environmental responsibilities as friends – not enemies. Born in Colorado and raised in southern New Jersey by her reduce, reuse and recycling parents, she began her higher education at Syracuse University, where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Design for Interiors. Rolling architecture, interiors and landscape design into one, the program was the perfect launching pad for Amber’s career: “From the beginning of classes I was hooked. Thinking about the interior and exterior and their effect on each other and the users really solidified my interest in dealing with the spaces where people interact and reducing their impact on the environment.”

From Syracuse she moved to Washington, DC where she worked for Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, completed her first LEED Silver project, became a LEED AP and earned a Masters degree in Urban and Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia. It was in Washington, DC where she built her fundamental beliefs in green building practices, and where she saw the opportunities for sustainable strategies on projects big and small.

Amber now calls Santa Monica her home.  She works both domestically and internationally, and in addition to her client service, she counsels co-workers about green building rating systems in various countries and offers classes for colleagues prepping for the LEED exam. She is a Certified Sustainable Building Advisor, considered a mastery level certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
