Jessie Griess

Cross-country moves, overseas travel to third world countries, and volunteer work in impoverished communities, gave Jessie her unique view of the world and strong call to action.  With aspirations of improving others’ quality of life, Jessie pursued interior design as a means to create healthy more enriched environments for others.  Jessie attended an accredited design program at the Art Institute in Atlanta, uprooted to the northwest, and completed her BA in Interior Design from Cornish College in Seattle.

Jessie joined Mithun Architects, a leader in regional and sustainable design.  Her knowledge and passion for sustainability continued to develop, achieving her LEED Accreditation in August '05.  Projects under her belt include LEED Certified Puget Sound Energy headquarters, the Tulalip Administrative Building, REI’s corporate campus, and West Seattle’s “Built Green” certified High Point Neighborhood Development, which received numerous awards for its innovations in sustainable design and construction.

Following her dreams brought her to Los Angeles where she joined Callison Architects in Santa Monica, whose work includes mixed-use, retail and hospitality projects.  With Callison becoming more environmentally savvy, Jessie brought a high level of experience and knowledge of green materials, innovative strategies, and efficient building techniques.  Jessie now consults for residential and commercial projects on sustainable design and environmental issues.

On a personal level of sustainability, she enjoys vegetable gardening, cooking organic meals, composting, and supporting local businesses and farms.  She has volunteered in organizations such as Great Harvest Outreach, Youth Volunteer Corps of America, Habitat for Humanity, Earth Share of Washington, and Heal The Bay.
